Have you ever felt like you didn’t belong? You had some stressful situation or just didn’t know what to do next?
And you wondered where Jesus’ provision was?
Jesus’ Provision is always available
We recently returned from a trip to Dubai and Italy.
We didn’t speak the local languages.
We looked different.
Our mannerisms and way of communicating were different.
We ate different foods to the locals.
We almost always had a suitcase rolling behind us or a tourist bag latched onto the front. (lol.)
There was a lot that made us feel like we stuck out.
Jesus’ provision is evidenced in the word
Today, while reading Mark 8, I came across the story of the foreign woman — a desperate mother with a demon-possessed daughter at home.
She had every reason not to approach Jesus:
- She was outside His tribe.
- She didn’t share His language, culture, or customs.
And yet, her desperation was greater than her fear of not belonging.
She pressed in.
Jesus spoke about how the food — His miracles, His blessings — were first meant for His family (the Jewish people).
It could have been a moment of deep discouragement.
But this brave Mum didn’t walk away.
Instead, she leaned closer and said,
“How true that is, Lord. But even puppies under the family table are allowed to eat the little children’s crumbs.” (Mark 8:28b, TPT)
She didn’t demand a seat at the table.
She simply asked for a crumb.
And it was enough.
Jesus’ provision is here for us
In a way, that’s what our trip felt like too.
There were so many reasons we could have stayed isolated — stuck in feeling like outsiders.
But like that Mum, we pressed in.
We asked for what we needed.
We trusted it would work out.
We watched closely for where God was leading us and what He was saying.
We also began to step into what was already in our hands — a heart to bless, a willingness to learn, a smile to offer, simple kindness to give.
And slowly, we began to feel less like outsiders.
We learned bits of local language.
We respected customs.
We tried to leave every place better than we found it — speaking life and blessing into the people, the land, and the atmosphere.
And through it all, we experienced Jesus’ “crumbs” — small but sacred moments of provision, peace, and connection — and they were more than enough.
A real world example of Jesus’ provision

One moment stands out so clearly: (note the not so sunny smile. lol)
We were in Pisa, exhausted after a long, rainy day.
The train was late, the weather was miserable, and we had only an hour to walk to the Leaning Tower and back — a twenty-minute walk each way — while racing to catch our connecting train.
No internet.
No way to contact each other if we got separated.
No easy way to even find the tower.
On top of it all, we were interrupted by pushy umbrella salesmen while trying to find luggage storage, tensions rose, and I had a heated discussion with my son over something ridiculous.
We were cold, hungry, frustrated.
I had suggested taking a taxi (and was outvoted, lol).
When we finally made it to the tower, the rain eased for a few precious minutes.
We took some quick photos, my son and I found peace and forgiveness, and we began the trek back, tired and soaked.
As my sons and I started the long walk, I cried out silently:
“Oh Lord, I wish we’d just taken a taxi.”
But we hadn’t seen a single taxi since arriving — and without internet, Uber wasn’t an option.
At that exact moment, a taxi pulled up.
A group of young men jumped out, and the driver was right there with his window down.
“Could you please take us to the station?” I asked.
“Hop in!” he smiled.
We arrived at the luggage storage just as my husband and daughter came running up — much to their playful annoyance (but the taxi had only room for four anyway).
It was such a small thing — but it felt like a big miracle.
A crumb of provision, placed perfectly by a loving God.
Isn’t it true for us too?
In His full capacity and provision, we can’t even begin to imagine how vast, how high, how deep His love and care really are.
And yet…even a crumb from His table is life-changing.
When we ask in faith,
when we trust His heart,
He meets us.
Not always in the grand ways we expect,
but often in the small, sacred moments that carry us through.
I am so grateful for this.
So grateful for Him.
Even Jesus’ crumbs are enough.
Whatever “foreign land” you’re walking through today — emotionally, spiritually, or physically — remember: His crumbs are enough for you too. Press in. Trust Him. He is faithful.
Have you ever experienced God’s provision in a small way? I’d love to hear your story in the comments.
Here is another blog that speaks about how Jesus’ provision is in the little and the BIG. Be encouraged precious one!
